Kate Thompson is a BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) senior registered counsellor and supervisor who uses an existential approach to her work. She is also a journal therapist, workshop facilitator and published author.
She grew up in Yorkshire and was educated at the University of Cambridge. Now she lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains above Boulder, Colorado, where the landscape provides inspiration for her writing and a glorious setting for her practice. For those who prefer not to drive so high on mountain roads she has an office in downtown Boulder and also works by phone and online (including skype).
Her first degree was in English Literature and she later trained as a counsellor in London. These two strands are brought together in her work with journal therapy and therapeutic writing.
Kate is a core faculty member of the Therapeutic Writing Institute (Denver), on the staff of the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (London), an associate of the Boulder Psychotherapy Institute and serves on the council of the National Association of Journal Writing.
