“I start from the premise that writing is both a creative and a therapeutic act.”
Kate Thompson, Therapeutic Journal Writing: an introduction for professionals
Kate runs a range of reflective journal and expressive writing groups in her offices in Boulder and in the mountains above Boulder.
Journal/expressive writing groups
We work with different writing prompts, themes and techniques each time the group meets.
Participants are invited to share their writing but sharing is always an opportunity, never an obligation!
No prior experience of writing or journals is necessary, just a desire to explore things honestly, discover your creativity and connect with others through writing. Writers and poets are welcome.

Journal writing as self-supervision
These groups are for professionals and practitioners who work with others (for example counsellors, therapists, health professionals, social workers) who wish to explore their work through writing and find an ongoing means of self-care. Group members develop writing for reflective practice and self-supervision in the company of others. A benefit of these groups is the opportunity to share insights and experiences with fellow professionals.
